From a business perspective you have to ask, ‘What is Obamacare About’. If business men and women sat down to design a new healthcare system one of the most important things you would do is look at healthcare systems in place and see what was working and what wasn't. Did the Obama Administration do that? I think the answer is an obvious no. In a recent article in Investor's Business Daily we find some interesting statistics they note from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization. It compares patient care in three different countries.
The first item we look at is the percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S. 65%
UK 46%
Canada 42%
The next item is the percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within six months:
U.S. 93%
UK 15%
Canada 43%
Next they considered the percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six months:
U.S. 90%
UK 15%
Canada 43%
Do you see a trend here. As business people designing a new system this would be quite important. To the designers of Obamacare, apparently it wasn’t? They next considered the percentage of people referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:
U.S. 77%
UK 40%
Canada 43%
Then they considered the number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:
U.S. 71
UK 14
Canada 18
The MRI data alone would be a major red flag if your goal was to provide better health care to your population. But apparently not to the Obama Administration? Next was the percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in "excellent health":
U.S. 12%
UK 2%
Canada 6%
If I were running the project the important thing to know would be what type of health care existed in the two comparable nations, Canada and England? Lets look as the study did at England, Canada and the US.
Who has National Health Insurance?
U.S. NO
UK YES
Canada YES
The coverage that exists in the US is superior to that of other countries. Is it too expensive? Yes. Is it available to everyone? No. Should there be something done? Absolutely! But should America go to a national health insurance? Absolutely not. Our government has not successfully ran anything so why on earth would we trust them with this? Stay tuned because Obamacare was installed for more reasons than helping everyone, which it won’t. It is an impending, massive train wreck waiting to happen. Pull up a chair, take care of your own health and secure your wallet and watch the disaster which our Congress doesn’t have the kahuna’s to stop.
