Here is a great use of taxpayer money. The TKC Global Solutions LLC of Anchorage AK got a contract for $7.78 million stimulus dollars to provide 11,208 personal computers to the US Labor Department Job Corps offices in, well, Texas. Note that is the home of Dell and HP and TI?
Now think about TKC Global. They are an Alaska Regional Native Corporation which gives them a leg up in the bidding. But being a shell corporation they actually get the contracts and then outsource the work or product to others. Of course this places a needless layer between the beginning and the end.
The cost of $700 per computer could certainly have been beaten by going direct to Dell or any number of computer manufacturers. And of course, this 'stimulus package' created exactly 0, zero, nada jobs. Ahhh, what leadership we have at the helm these days.
