Doing Right in Haiti

There is no question that we should be doing all we can for the people of Haiti in this unprecedented national disaster. Its probably the only thing I agree with the current President on so far - giving $100M up front. But if you go and look at the list of contributors to date ... well where is the UN? Isnt that what they are there for?

I was looking at a list last week and China is giving equal to Bill Gates at $1M. Of course they arent happy with our Prez and took it out on Google a short while ago so maybe that it? Iran nothing. Brazil nothing. In some cases a rescue team here or there. Cuba nothing and the loud mouth Chavez in Venezuala ... nada.

The problem with the UN is that it is a world organization that pretends to govern things. We currently support 40% of all UN expenses. There are countries in the UN that hold Security Council positions that are so arears in their dues they'll never catch up.

I read this weekend that Florida has refused any more Haitian patients in their Trama Centers because the price tag have exceeded $7M and there pleas to Washington as to 'who is going to pay' have gone unanswered - the people of Haiti who need emergency care are caught in the middle. I dont blame Florida. A leader would simple say to the Governor of Florida, go ahead it will be worked out. But all the states are getting caught in the middle.

We need trauma centers and Mr International Diplomacy who wants to work with every two bit Dictator out there, why isnt he calling Raul Castro in Cuba and asking for hospitals? Michael Moore said they have great healthcare there. And they refuse? Go public - let the world know that all these loud mouths who are 'for the people' like Chavez is doing jack!

Where have all the leaders gone? They sure arent residing in DC and havent been for years.
