Just read this morning that the administration in DC just announced they are moving the key Gitmo group to NYC to face criminal trials. Now this was started with the first World Trade Center bombing terrorists under the Clinton Administration. Bush wasnt doing it he was opting for military courts.
On the surface it seems a small thing perhaps but it has monumental impacts on the battlefield. You see when you put them up for civilian criminal trial it allows their lawyers to work the courts and seek documents on their clients which opens the CIA/FBI books as to how and what we know about whom. In other words it makes public how much we know about our enemy.
In the case of the first World Trade Center scum bags the discovery done by their attorneys later showed up in an Al Qaida house raided in Afghanistan. They knew who we knew about what and how. Think that hurts our efforts? You bet it does.
The civilian courts were set up to try civilian crimes, the military courts were set up to try people in the military and at war with us. How can you say that people captured on the battlefield in another country have the same rights as you and I? It is absurd, naive or calculated? You decide?
